Other priorities: CSR in China

Corporate Social Responsibility is catching on in China, with foreign firms under pressure from consumers and domestic firms eager to be seen to do the right thing.  In an article published in Business China in March 2008 I argued that there are more basic legal and operational issues for Chinese companies and government to worry about before they start to be concerned about being good corporate citizens.  EIU subscribers can see the article here:

China Hand - Investment Chapter

2007 and 2008 were significant years for the investment climate in China.  The Enterprise Income Tax Law, Labour Contract Law, Anti-Monopoly law, and a new catalogue for the guidance of foreign investment all significantly impacted the environment for both foreign and domestic business.  In a comprehensive guide to the investment regime published by the EIU I summarised the main changes.  EIU subscribers can see the work here:
